What Is The Best Skin Treatment Solution For My Oily Skin?
I have oily skin & after using various acne removing soaps etc.. I’ve stuck to doing the following for the past month or so:
Juts so you know I’m a teenage guy.
Use Nivea Oil Control face wash (nearly every morning & evening, in the morning during my bath, & in the evening just whilst washing face).
I would exfoliate my skin using St Ives Exfoliator maybe once a week (sometimes less).
I have Nivea Oil Control Moisturizer but I don’t really use it, my skin has never really been dry.
My skin is still as oily as ever, although for the hour or so after washing my face (whether with water or nivea face wash, my face stays normal)…
Please can someone tell me how I can improve this, & increase my chances of getting rid of lots of acne on my forehead, & lose the greasy face? Someone mentioned a toner but I don’t know what that’s about.
Thanks..

I can’t think of the product that Jessica Simpson uses, but I know it works because my daughter used it for a month. Another good product is Phisohex. Phisohex has to be prescribed by a doctor though. I used Phisohex when I had both a blemish problem & oily skin. It seems like the pimples went away over night.

Go to a doctor & they will prescribe a cream that will definately clear up spots. You may get spottier in the first week of treatment, but after that you won’t have a problem. The cream you will be prescribed will be clinically proven to work. I used Pan Oxyl, it is a good one, & can be bought over the counter at your pharmacy if you don’t want it prescribed. I used it on my back when I had mild acne & it was superb. Good luck.

Sometimes I think it is best to not do to much to skin.
Sometimes lotions & potions can aggravate spots & other skin conditions.
Remember alot of these are full of synthetics, chemicals & are not natural.
I rinse face alot, occasionally use products & use a little bit of jojoba oil for any dry areas.

Well your skin may be getting oily because you wash it with out moisturizing. When you wash your face all face wash contains a detergent ( that’s what helps it get foamy & sudsy). This strips your skin of dirt, which is good, but it also takes away your natural oils in your skin. This causes your skin membrane to produce more oil to compensate for the oil that it was stripped of. Try doing a three step system of washing, to get rid of any dirt, toning to shrink the pores & moisturizer to give your skin moisture & vitamins that will also help prevent break outs.

My older brother had the same problem & he tired ProActive. It doesn’t work & it’s expensive, so don’t use that. He finally went to see a doctor & she prescribed him Differin & a Sodium Sulfacetanide & Sulfer lotion, & it improved over a month long period.

First thing first.
If you have oily skin, DO NOT wash your face so often just to think that you can get rid of the oil. Washing your face often will do nothing to your skin but to make the skin ‘think’ that it does not have balance so it will try to produce more oil. With that, instead of getting rid of your oily skin type, it will promote to be more oily. If you feel like you need to wash your face during the day, you can do so but NOT every couple hours. Maybe 3 times a day: in the morning, at lunch & in the evening when you shower.
Second, find the skin care product that contains alcohol. Products that contain alcohol are not good for dry skin type but it will be a good treat for oily skin.
Remember to use toner after you cleanse your face every time. Especially, if you exfoliate your skin (as you said), toner & moisturiser is a must to balance your skin.
DO NOT use a peel-off mask products.
One more thing you need to remember is that you are still young. There is no help on being young & having oily skin. It’s natural that skin produces more oil when you are young. Take that as a good sign that you will not have a VERY dry skin when you get old.

Just clearasil mate! when i was a bit younger i had the same problem. nothin else worked. Trust. Don’t bother with all that ladies stuff “exfoliation” or whatever u call it, u don’t wana over stimulate your pours. And using moisterisers not a good idea if your face is oily it allready has enough moisture!
Whenever ur face gets greasy, wash it.
all else fails try undiluted “Detol” applied whit a cotton wool ball. leave it no for a few mins then wash off with water.. Will dry up your skin dig time….

I know this may seem a bit obvious to some & a bit alien to you but try adjusting your diet! Drink WATER about 2lts a day for a month…..cut out greasey food….chips/pizza/kebab etc…it is all down to diet!!! Also try lemon….rub either slices of lemon over your face & rinse with plain water or juice a cucumber & try rinsing your face with that mixed with lemon juice.

Everyone is different, so to some extent, you just need to try some things until you find the routine that works best for you. Important to know: overworking your skin (like washing it too often or aggressively) can actually make it oilier. You might want to try the oil control moisturizer, & use the toner, but only once a day. Also, you might be surprised to learn that drinking plenty of water can be helpful, as can eliminating fatty foods from your diet, like chips, greasy fries, etc. It will be less of a problem as you get older. On the plus side, in my experience, people who have oiler skin tend to age much more gracefully. Hang in there.

Please check out his site, the thing is you also have to look at ur diet, as this can make alot of difference.Theysuggest a hormone imbalance for example in male teens, & suggest eating tofu & soya is good for balancing the hormones.
I typed in acne please look thru results for advice.
I’d also go to ur local health shop as they end to have natural products that work better.
The cleanser they recommend is Tea Tree & Coconut Cleanser from this site (please go toSkinCare & scroll down to middle to Cleanser for noraml to Oily Skin):http://www.essential-care.co.uk/
the cream they recommned is Oralmat Acno Cream (see end of article here)http://www.whatreallyworks.co.uk/start/n…

Toner is a last step in a facial cleansing routine. An example of a toner is witch hazel. You pour a bit on a cotton pad or cotton ball & wipe your face to remove any traces of soap residue & for extra exfoliation.
You might find benzoyl peroxide products helpful. There are many drugstore brands available. I’ve use Oxy10 – it’s a liquid face wash & Desquamex – a prescription face wash.
You also might try using a toner w/ salicylic acid. There are many drugstore brands available.
Both of these products can make your skin a little more prone to sunburn so wear an oil free sunscreen.
Here are 2 links w/ more information I found on Y! Search:http://www.acne.org/regimen.htmlhttp://www.mayoclinic.com/health/drug-in…
If over the counter treatments are not working, then see a dermatologist.

Because you have oily skin, you probably feel you have to wash it all the time. This is the first mistake.
You should wash your face once in the morning & just before you go to bed. You don’t need to use an acne soap or a product similar to that because all they do is dry out your skin. Which then causes your skin to produce more oil
Use a facial wash that is for oily skin & control of black heads. Marcelle has a great line of products for your skin type. There are a lot on the market.
But the bottomline is your skin right now is over producing, hence the oil. Don’t use any products that will increase oil production. It is your skin’s natural defense that if you are drying it out with acne products (over the counter remedies are very harsh) it will produce more oil.
Take it from someone who is been there done it & battles it every day. I have found the right facial wash & moisturizer for myself, I am sure you can too.
Go into your drug store & ask at the cosmetic counter for someone to help you find the product.
Good luck!

You could try ProActive that they advertise on TV.
I like Principal Secret for my face, the scrub, the moisturizer (with vitamins) & the eye gel. I know you are a guy but skin is skin (there is no difference)…it is not a cover up so it doesn’t look like makeup. Even you could just put it on at night if you are worried about what people would think. And you can order it by phone/ mail order so you could be anonymous that way. Scrubs are like fine sandpaper to take the roughness & bumps & old skin off the top, so the new skin can come to the top.
Other than those two things, you could go to a dermatologist too.

Hey teenage guy, I’m a 35 year old guy with the same embarassing problem. I searched for an answer off & on for the better part of twenty years. I finally found the answer…and one that any dermatologist should have known about (at least recently). It is a product called “Clinac BPO”. It is a topical solution (which also contains benzeyl peroxide), used to control acne & excess facial oil. Applied twice daily, it has been an absolute CURE for my facial oil. It is kinda expensive compared to washes or other the counter remedies. I pay about 35 bucks for a tube, which lasts about 6-8 weeks. Good luck!

Have you tried witch hazel?
